Volunteer 1 came from Eritrea speaking very little English, he had no friends or family and set up a new life in England away from the wars in his own country.

He had no where to live and seeked advice to find himself his own place. He was referred to an organisation called Chapter 1 the limes where he was offered support and the opportunity to progress.

He found through football and sport, a way to meet new friends but to develop his independent skills further. He went onto gain various qualifications such as the Sports leadership award, Handball and football level 1’s and personal development qualifications.

Since leaving Chapter 1 the Limes supported accommodation he has set up his own Eritrean football team and he has won a volunteer of the year award with the Manchester F.A. He has now set up his own business and is a taxi driver within the Manchester area.
